Your role as a carer is to help people who’re less capable with their day-to-day tasks while assisting them to remain as independent as possible.
As part of our care assistant team, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality care to those in need, assisting people who may be managing or overcoming illness, the elderly and aged, those suffering from debilitating and life-threatening conditions as well as younger people and children.
What does it take to become a care assistant?
There is no need to have any prior experience as a care assistant when joining Sagecare.
As part of our induction process, those who have not yet obtained a care certificate will undergo a 12 week training course as part of their induction which deals with all facets of delivering care.
Care training includes:
- Basic life support, health & safety, infection control, safeguarding, duty of care
- Communication, awareness of mental health-related issues
- Privacy & dignity, working in a person-centred way, personal development
What will your care job involve?
A role in care is more than just a job. Sagecare places an emphasis on our carers being companions and friends to those they’re looking after, too, alongside daily responsibilities that may include:
- Helping clients bathe & shower
- Assist with chores & housework
- Cook and prepare meals
- Administer medications
- Help with outings, trips outside the house & going to the shop
- Looking after pets
