A Rewarding Career
Delivering leading home care across South East England, Sagecare has been providing care services for 25 years as part of the UK’s largest home care group, City and County. Helping clients of varying ages, we primarily assist with:
- Care for the elderly, including dementia and Alzheimers support
- Assistance with disabilities, both physical and cognitive
- Support during rehabilitation, reablement and recovering after hospitalisation
- Temporary or respite care when a regular caregiver requires a break
Care work might be tough at times, and it’s a career that not everyone is cut out for but, for those who do have what it takes, you’re helping and assisting people who are far less fortunate and able, making a significant difference to their quality of life.
While you may think of care assistants as plying their trade in care homes and facilities, Sagecare provides domiciliary care and looks after people in their own homes. Sitting down with our clients before beginning any care programme, we discuss all requirements, needs and preferences before matching a suitable care assistant according to their skillset. Find out more about the usual daily care assistant duties a carer will undertake.
What qualities do we look for in our care assistants?
It takes a certain type of person with specific qualities to look after and tend to others in need. We look for these qualities in those applying for our care assistant jobs:
- Caring, considerate, empathetic and good-natured
- Able to relate to a varied and diverse cross-section of society
- Pragmatic, responsible and level headed when dealing with stressful situations
- Mindful of customer’s privacy and respectful of each individual’s circumstances
- Cognisant of respecting and upholding every client’s dignity
- Pass relevant DBS and security checks
Providing Independence
Home care, or ‘dom care’, serves as an alternative to care homes which are more commonly-known for looking after the aged, disabled and those with learning or physical disabilities. But, domiciliary care provides a number of benefits care homes don’t, such as one-to-one care assistants that get to know and build relationships with their customers. Dom care is typically more cost-effective, too, while allowing customers to remain living in homes they’ve known and loved for many years, enjoying many of the same habits and routines.
Offering live-in care as well, we provide services where a care assistant lives with the customers as well for a set number of days per week, on a short to medium-term basis, which will require an additional room for them to use. A live-in care assistant will typically work 8 hours a day while the remainder of time they have to themselves.
Around the home, care assistants will help with normal day-to-day activities like light chores, meal prep, administering medicines, bathing, using the toilet, helping customers with making social visits and getting out and about, all with the aim to helping customers remain as independent and self-reliant as feasibly possible.
Now recruiting care assistants!
As Sagecare grows, we’re on the lookout for those who fulfil the above requirements, delivering care packages to communities across the region.
